this is a picture i have repainted based on an old piece for the 'draw this again' contest here on dA. i was going through the more ancient parts of my gallery and i liked the composition in that particular work so i chose it for a small lifting. it's almost exactly 6 years between the two versions.

i am not completely happy with how this new version turned out, if anything it feels a bit over rendered. i had no more time to work on it though so i decided to just stop at this stage. maybe i can repaint it again in another 6 years and make it more to my liking. nevertheless, i am very happy to see i have learned a thing or two.

i still remember parts of the story i had in my head while working on the original version of this pic. i also remember i had been reading neil gaiman books and listening to franz ferdinand music back when i came up with the story. i used to work part-time as a tutor and i would take a late bus back home, reading and with the headphones in my ears. the bus stop near my students' home was right next to a cemetery and once there was a really thick mist in the air.. it's funny how all these memories came back to me while working on this picture again. it was a nice journey back in time^^

Wow not only have you grown over the years but you took a trip down memory lane. Although you said it didn't turn out quite to your liking I believe if you do as you stated it will definitely come out beyond your expectations. Keep up the great job though! One of these days it will feel just right!
